QPR MEMORY
SAMPLE PROGRAM

MoSys and Digi-Key have partnered in a sample program for our

NEW QUAZAR QPR (Quad Partition Rate) Memories.

The QPR4 and QPR8 devices are designed to be used as general-purpose high-speed  Random Access memory devices. There is nothing on the market like this device.

They easily replace high speed QDR memories or the slower, yet still fast, Sync SRAMs.

Designed for Low Cost, you can achieve QDR performance for a fraction of the cost.

MoSys provides a reference RTL QPR Memory Controller that allows the user to select the Operating mode to support the user’s access patterns.

  • DEEP Mode configures the access to the total memory capacity as 4 independent SRAMs
  • WIDE Mode configures the access to the total memory capacity as 8 independent SRAMs
  • Application bandwidth is determined by how many Partitions are accessed in one cycle.
    • DEEP Mode – the Single clock access has a maximum word width of 288b
    • WIDE Mode – the Single clock access has a maximum word width of 567b

The FPGA interface is 32 pins for the DEEP Mode and 64 pins for the WIDE Mode.  That’s it!  And the MoSys RTL controller handles all the signals so you only see an RTL QDR type interface.

Last key point… ONE QPR Device can replace 4 or 8 QDR Devices.

“DESIGNING CANNOT GET MUCH SIMPLER…AND PROVIDES COST SAVINGS IN COMPONENT COST AND SHORTER DESIGN TIME”

For advice on the best solution from MoSys, it is important to understand your current application, your plans for a redesign or plans for future system architectures.  Each situation has memory tradeoffs to achieve maximum performance.

Please fill out the QPR APPLICATION PROFILE so we can discuss your application.

We will discuss:

  • Tradeoffs of Internal FPGA memory vs External memory
    • FPGA internal memory
    • External SRAM memory
    • HBM/DDR
    • Combination
  • Is the QPR the best choice for your application?
  • Issues in designing High-Speed Boards based on our many years of experience and our Application Note: Designing High-Speed Boards

The goal of the discussion is to determine if the QPR is the correct product for you, and if not, help guide you to an alternative memory solution.
